December 29th ride

3 bikes and a cage met at the Chevron on a cool 45 degree morning. Dennis, Gary K & Bob K were on the bikes, with Bonnie & I, along with Garry & Anne Hewitt who had just arrived from Canada, were in the cage. We headed out to the We Ko Pa golf course restaurant, with Dennis leading and Gary K on the tail. As we headed up the Bush Highway we encountered 2 groups of wild horses! Our table was ready when we arrived at the golf course, and we soon had hot coffee. The food, as usual, was plentiful and delicious. Afterwards, the 3 bikers decided to head to Bartlett Lake, while ourselves in the cage headed back. Bob K reported: Left We Ko Pa and rode to Bartlett Lake Come home via 101 and 202. Got home about 2:00. Had 163 total miles. Thanks for the report, Bob.
Next Wednesday's ride will be to the Patio Cafe at Oracle.

Hi group, We had 8 bikes and 1 lady rider this cool morning (45) plus. We had three places to choose from and decided on ma's Kitchen. On the way, one bike was having electrical problem.
He headed home, with another rider following him. Near Miami, they stopped and there they found. the short. They turned around and headed for Ma's Kitchen. We were getting ready to head out when they showed up. From there we headed on around Roosevelt lake. We all decided the lake was down about 64 or 65 %. with a short stop at Tonda basin. With the weather still cool, we all enjoyed the rest of the way home. Sorry, no mileage or time for this trip.
Wed if no rain we plan on a short ride to Tags in Coolidge. That way if anyone has last-minute shopping to do for Christmas they can get it done.
Merry Christmas to all of you.  PS pictures to follow.

Hey Paul, sorry I didn't get this to you sooner.  Four Hardy riders met at the station for a 9 o'clock departure on Wednesday we were scheduled to go to Ma's kitchen but we ended up going to Sun Lakes with Gary. We had breakfast there, and Laurie joined us, then we went down through Sacaton back around to Coolidge and Florence then back home about 120 miles. The weather was beautiful anybody that didn't ride don't know what they missed see you Saturday Paul. We are supposed to be going to the Golden corral, and then the firetruck museum and on the Bartlett Lake however the Golden corral is not open so we will have to decide Saturday morning where we are going,  see you later bye!  🏍

Hello Angles, Our ride today sent us to tags in Coolidge for a breakfast, and on to Eloy airport where there were a few skydivers. there were 9 bikes and 3 lady Angeles. Three of us only stayed about 15 min. and headed home. The 3 bikes traveled 150 miles and got home about 1 PM. I didn't hear how the other 6 rode back.
Sat ride will be The Dwarf Car Museum, with a stop, will be decided at the station, I think some of the riders will be at G.V, for the patio sale including me. I hope there will be a good turnout for the ride.

It is getting cooler these days but we still had 9 bikes with 4 passengers. Need to welcome back Bill Lieser with a new Harly trike.
We picked Maria's in Winkelmen as our place to stop and get a bit to eat. Dan Knorr lead the group with your truly on the tail. Everyone came back the way of Globe. Where we saw Santa in a box-type trailer. It was heading a large group of motorcycles going east on the 60. My guess was about ( 200 to 300 ) bikes. There were at least 3 other groups a little behind the large group.
We had stopped at the Shell for a break, where Mary found a deal on some little bottles of wine. We then headed home with 150 miles, and got home around 1 PM' Wed ride will be to Eloy airport and the skydivers. And food for though who wants to eat.

Fwd: Casa Grande and beyond on December 1st

11 bikes with two passengers gathered at the Chevron this morning, where they were installing new fuel lines to the pumps. With a 9 o'clock start, temperatures were already mild and today reached about 85°.  Pretty hard to beat for December 1st.  Dennis became the lead, with Dan bringing up the rear today. There were a few dropouts on the way, and some of the group enjoyed a   nice ride around the Park Link Road.

The verdant green desert plants are beginning to darken as dry weather advances this fall.  The farmland around Casa Grande becomes really interesting as harvesting continues. Cotton picking has begun, and the first stacks appear near the road. The tangy smell of fresh cut alfalfa greeted us as we came cross country on the Cactus Forest Road. We can also see the first fields going back to weeds after water has been cut off. Hard to understand where the water is  cut and how it is allotted.

The Cracker Barrel is our restaurant of choice in Casa Grande, and we certainly were rewarded today with huge breakfast meals served in timely fashion. Everyone enjoyed all they could eat, and of course the fastest eaters were served first. Our waitress today was particularly friendly.

Mention was made of dropouts along the way.  Max made a short trip with us before needing to go back; Phil visited friends in Casa Grande, and 3 bikes returned to AJ after breakfast.  The remainder headed south to Picacho Peak and the Park Link Road, where I'm sure they enjoyed their day.  For my part, I had 126 miles in 2 ¾  hours of travel, returning through Chandler and Riggs Road.  Saturday's ride starts at 9:00 and is planned for Maria's at Oracle.  Join the group to see where that place is.

In case you haven't been able to be here recently, the picture of Flatiron Mountain and Canyon Lake at the bottom of our story is to remind you of what a gorgeous place Arizona is.  Hope you can join us this winter; I hope to be back in the New Year.

Phil Parsons
