Wed 3/29/23 ride

There was 5 bike and one lady angel for a great day for an M/C ride. We decided on Maria's in Winkelman. With Dan Knorr leading and Paul B on the tail. We hit the 60 East at 9:00 am. It was a beautiful day on the way. When we turned onto 77 at Surpior there was a sign stating the road will close from April 4 to April 11, with delays of up to 20 min. We arrived at Maria's where we got seated and our orders are taken. After our meal, we headed S/W on 177 to 79. Near Mammoth, we passed Yellow Poppies in patches was a good sign of spring. We turned North on 79 onto Florence Where we slowed up for backup traffic for the bridge Is still under construction. Onto the 60 West and home, I showed 167 miles on my speedo, the time arrived home around 1:15 Sat ride at 9:00 am will depend on the weather.
I got a note from Phil and the trip was great.  P.S. Jeannie is doing better now. I hope the card from Blue's Angels helped some. pulse calls from Phil.

13 bikes with 16 riders met at the Chevron this morning for perhaps the nicest day so far this month. Although we traveled mostly as one, two groups were set in motion with Gary Knudson leading the first group and Dennis McKinney leading the second. Dan and Bill took the respective tailgunner positions.

A good dining experience in January brought us to choose the Hideout Steakhouse at Casa Grande. It's a big place; food came after 45 minutes and it was good. There was extra bacon, and everyone ate their fill.

Arizona is the greenest ever, and now the flowers are popping out everywhere south of Highway 60. In addition to the brittlebush, poppies, and Lupin that have appeared, there is a touch of color added by the Mallow in the background . Cattle have been in the nearby pastures since January, and warm temperatures are still needed before the mountains turn yellow with flowers. Gary led us on a circuitous route going  going north on Signal Mountain Road, then through Sacatan and to the 587 and put us in Chandler Heights through several traffic back ups. It's Spring; there are events everywhere, and the freeway system was overcrowded. I had 135 miles on a 4 ½ hour tour today that averaged 38 mph because of waiting in line at various intersections.

Not much was said about the Blue's Angels picnic last Saturday, March 18. It was a Grand occasion, as always, with fried chicken and all the fixings served by Peter and Joanne Vander Werff nd their friends. About 40 people attended, and there were lots of prizes for the drawing. Happily, Paul Breuklander was elected our leader. Paul asked that a new leader be chosen next fall, since he is often called for airport runs. Al and Sandy Jeanquart will continue as treasurers . Although the season is winding down, we hope for several rides in spring sunshine before the call of the north rings for our riders.

 Phil Parsons.

Fwd: I made the ride

---------- Forwarded message ---------

I realize that the weather was clearing as the afternoon advanced, so I left about 2 PM to make the ride to Winkelman, globe and return. I was interested in looking for a campsite, but the only available site was Winkelman city Park, which is not a great place.

There were a few scattered raindrops on my faring as I left town, but that was the only rain. At the Winkelman speedway, there was sunshine and 64° that soon turned to 46° at the peak elevation on the way to Globe . I was well dressed and rode out the cold temperatures and wind in the mountains. So, the best remembered trips are the challenging ones.    Phil

Wed 3/8/23

There were 12 bikes, and three lady angels for a nice day in AZ for M/C's. I couldn't ride again, the airport run. The group decided on two destinations, with 7 bikes going one way and the other 5 bikes the other. The 7 bikes went south to AK Chin Casino in Maricopa. The 5 b[kes went north to Phil's Garage Diner in Fountain Hills. The & bike rode 142 miles and got home at 1:30.
Now more sad news, Phil sent me an email that Jeannie is in the hospital with fluid on her lungs and heart valve problems. Hope she gets out by Monday
Remember the picnic on march 18th in the Apache room at Golden Vista.

Saturday 3/4/2023

Hi everyone, It was a wonderful day for a ride. There were 9 bikes with 3 lady angles. We were lucky to have Bill Lieser with a new restaurant, Mexican. The food was good and the service was great. We didn't have to wait long to be seated. We all thought the coffee was the best we'd had in a long time. Bill lead with Dennis as our tail. Bill was full of information that I hadn't heard be for. We rode 150 + miles and I got home at 1:30. The weather is supposed to be in the '70s all week. (Read on) the blue's angle year-end party is coming up fast, So make sure you get your tickets from Mini Al so they will know how much food to get. Pete and his crew are in charge so if anyone can help him please do. Also, we need someone to take the President's position. Duane is stepping down. I will help anyone as much as I can. Also If you can get something or gift cards is one good thing as door prizes. Remember the date 3/18/23 time 11 am to 3 pm in the Apache room at Golden Vista. More news they want the Blue's Angels in the St. Patrick's parade. check the flyers in the hallway for more info. or call me ai 480 217 6805                            Paul B
