6/25/22 Saturday

Three bikes met at the station, We had two lady riders. Jay leads the way going north on Goldfield road, to University Ave, to Ellsworth to Bush hwy. Then on to west 87 hwy. We decided on The Euro Pizza Cafe.
Now we had 3 bikes, Jay and Jim Barrington, and Me. Dottie and Bobbie B. rode with us. At the cafe, Jim told us all about his cruise to Alaska. It was very interesting. On our way, we saw a few wild horses. Coming home on the Bush Hwy on the left side the parking lots were full. There were about three patrol Cars trying to direct traffic. We made it home at 10 am and 85.4 miles. I won't be riding Wed I/ll be at a baseball game with 8 other church members, But hope to ride Sat. 7/2/22. how the time is flying by.

Thanks for the report on your ride, Bob. Except for the heat, sounded like an interesting trip.

Hi Paul

Left our condo in Apache Junction on Monday, June  6 and headed toward Kayenta Az. It was hotter than hell north of Flagstaff going through the desert we arrived at Kayenta and spent the night.
We left Tuesday morning and headed for four corners. Stopped there, saw the monument, and can now say we have been there. No need to go back.   Left the monument and headed for Durango to spend the night.
On Wednesday we rode the Durango Silverton narrow gauge railroad powered by a steam engine. Round-trip was a total day experience. Was an enjoyable and interesting ride.
Thursday morning we headed out on the million dollar Highway going from Durango through Silverton, Ourey and then to Montrose. Our objective was to get to Buena Vista to spend the night. We headed east on highway 50. We got about 25 miles out of town and came to a flag man who said the road was closed. We could either wait for the Row to open at 5:30 or we could take a detour that should only  take an hour. We took the detour, back to Montrose, north to Delta, then east on Highway 95 which would take us back to Highway 50. The curves on Highway 95 made the million dollar highway look like a freeway.  We eventually completed the detour and got to our hotel about 730 at night after a long days ride.

Friday morning we headed for Colorado springs, we went to the Air Force Academy. it is a beautiful and very large campus. It must be 10 or 15 miles from one end to the other. We wanted to see the chapel at the Academy , but it was closed for renovation and won't be finished until 2028.  There were a lot of other interesting things to see and we checked out some of them.
Spent the night in Colorado springs and then Saturday morning we headed for Arapahoe Nebraska. It was a 300 mile ride and the temperatures were high 90s and 100 quite a bit of the ride. The only reason we were staying at Arapahoe was that it had a motel in town when I was looking at a map to try to figure out where we were going. The town might have had a motel, but there were no restaurants. The only place in town to get any food was a subway shop. So much for having a good meal that night.
Plans for our trip included going to Saint Joseph Missouri for a night and then to Hannibal Missouri for a night before heading home.I  in
It was over 100 and pretty uncomfortable. We made an executive decision to skip our back road sightseeing trip and just beat her ass for home. We left Arapahoe on Sunday morning and headed for Highway 80, we ran about 380 miles and got to Des Moines Iowa.
Left Des Moines early this morning and headed for home, ran into rain and had to put on rain suits. Rain lasted for about 70 miles and then we had dry pavement. Got home at Dekalb, Il at 11:30 this morning.
Total miles for the trip 2,040
Miles AJ to home normally 1,730

All in all it was a great ride.
Bob & Lin Keeler
I would like to thank all the angels for all the great rides, friendship, and camaraderie over the years.  Hope you all get in some good riding over the summer.  Be safe and keep the shiny side up.  See you next December.

For the Harley Trike owners:  My gas mleage for the last 800 miles was only about 25 mpg. Don't know if it was caused by the bike being loaded down, strong winds encountered, or speed, a lot of 75 to 85 on freeways and back roads.

t It was a good day for a ride. There was just Jay and I and our wives. We were doing a short ride because I had something else to do. We left at 7 am and stopped a the Miners on main in Superior. It was a little price's as is most of our stops. Gas is going up when the station gets new allotments of gas. Even Globe which was usually cheaper. As you know we are starting at 7 am. and it's still over 80%. Wed there won't be a ride, Dottie's Birthday and I have a airport run.

Wed, 6/8/22

Morning Angels, Dan Leeper is here for a week. He flies in Tue night. The first thing He said it sure was hot and he was right, In Phx, it was 107, but as we neared home it dropped to 102. We talked about things that have happened in the park. He said he would like to get his bike ready for his ride Friday with the H, D. group. Ask if we rode WED I said Jay can't and Dennis #2 said He will wait till we go back to 8 am. So Dan and I rode at 7 am to Globe and Judy's Restaurant. We both had the senior omelet. By that time it was in the 90;s Dan wanted to check his wet vest, so we both put our vest on, boy was I glad. The weather was 102 when we got back to G. V. Short trip for Dan had to change his plates to AZ from Wash. We got home about 10 am and 94 miles.

Saturday 6/4/22

Good morning Angels, This morning was another wild day for me. First I had an airport run, and term #4 was a mess. I got my passenger there all right but the curbside check-in was close. I let my passenger off and did a no-no. I left her and my car to check on a wheelchair and someone to help her with luggage. I was lucky as I went in the term there was a red cap with a wheelchair and cart looking for my passenger. I got in my car and headed home. Jay and Dottie were waiting for me. Ponytail Bob was there to say goodbye for the summer and said he would be back in Dec. I went home and picked up my bike and Bobbie. We then went to pick up Jay and Dottie.  We headed out on Goldfield road to Brown street and left on Ellsworth and on to bush hwy, to 87. there we turned left. We saw a small herd of horses, and closer to We Ko Po W could see the fountain going up in Fountain hills. We had breakfast at the golf course. as usual, we brought food home. After we went over to the casino to check it out. Found two restaurants, one you have to call ahead, the other was a fancy one for Lunch and dinner only. It sure is a nice-looking casino though.  Then going back on the 87 we saw three scattered bunch of horses. We traveled 75.3 miles and got home around 1 pm. As the stories, continental  Wed will be a ?.
