Re: 3/26/22 Ride

Hopefully everyone has a safe riding seasons for those that are heading home. Maybe I will get some riding time in before we leave and that next season is a better year for us. Thanks to all Blues Angels that worked to make this a good season. Sorry we missed the banquet, wished the date hardened been changed.

Rim Ride

Nine bikes with 11 riders gathered at the station for the annual Rim Ride. It was a cool ride to Payson, and we were glad to arrive at the 260 Cafe for hot coffee and breakfast. We then headed out along the Mogollon Rim, enjoying the beautiful scenery on the way to Heber & Showlow, where we stopped for gas. Then headed to the bottom of the Salt River Canyon, with a rest stop there. We then headed back thru Globe and Superior, where a stop was required to remove some clothing. We returned about 2:30 after another great ride! Thanks to Dennis for the report, where I used my literary license to enhance the report.

Picnic & Misc

We had a great turnout for our annual picnic, with 45 people attending. The food was good, with plenty of it. Everyone really enjoyed the informative speakers from the Salt River Wild Horse Management Group. They talked about how they cared for the 40 horses in the Bush Highway area. The lady said she spends 5 nights a week staying with the horses to take care of them!
Many prizes were raffled off - a certain person may have equalled Vern's record of the most won!
Next Wednesday's ride is the FULL rim ride, so we will start at 8AM.
I have included some pictures of the party, plus the St Patrick's Day parade.

Saturday 3/12/22

Today's ride was to the Patio Cafe in Oracle, with 13 bikes and 19 riders. The cafe had outdoor seating, so had to arrange some tables to get the suns warmth. After the meal, the group headed thru Oracle and north on the 77. Some took the turn toward home at Winkleman, while most continued to Globe and home, with a stop at the Shell station. Traveled 212 miles, returning at 2;30.

This coming week will be busy, with the ride to the airport in Payson on Wednesday, the St Patrick's Day parade on Thursday, the 17th. Be sure to have your bikes decorated and at the Main Gate at 9;30!  Then the Picnic on Saturday. You can purchase tickets from Al J before or at the door. The menu is chicken, potato salad, beans and cole slaw. Bottled water & coffee will be furnished, or bring your own drink.

Duane.

Wednesday 3/9/22 Ride

There were 15 bikes with 22 riders ready for the ride to the Cattleman's Cafe in Marana.  I announced that the park had asked us to be in the St Patricks Day parade on the 17th. If you would like to be in it, be at the main gate at 9:30 AM that day.
The ride was enjoyed down to Marana, staying off the 10 on the way down. The meal was good, with people commenting how fast they were able to serve all of us. Afterward, we ran a short way on the 10 with not much traffic before getting off. Back to GV at 2:30 with about 175 miles.

The Blue's Angels picnic is on March 19th. Again, doors open at 10:30, with the speakers arriving at 11. Dinner will follow after the program.

Saturday's ride will be to the Patio Cafe, with outdoor dining.

Ride start times

I am hearing a lot of complaints about our rides starting at 8 AM because its too cold. Normally here in Arizona the weather is warmer at this time of year - but - this year is different. So we'll make March start times at 9 AM, hopefully that pleases everybody.

Let everyone know, so we don't have riders showing up at different times.

The main group traveled 175 miles and returned at 12:30 PM.

Wed 3/2/22 Ride

15 riders assembled at the station at the new time of 8 AM. The planned ride to Kitt Peak was cancelled as they are still closed due to covid. So it was decided to head to Apache Gold Casino at Globe. There they had good service and food. After breakfast it was decided to ride back thru Winkleman & Superior. Traveled 180 miles, got back at 12:50.

Now to the Blue's Angels Picnic: The date has been changed to Saturday, March 19th due to scheduling conflicts. The party will start at 10:30 in the Apache Room. Please bring your meal & raffle tickets from the cancelled 2020 party if you have them. Also we need more gifts for the raffle. Meal and raffle tickets will be available at the party.

Next Saturday's ride will be to Maria's in Winkleman. Ride starting at 8 AM.
