13 bikes with 19 riders headed to Petro for the ride. After breakfast they stopped at the airport to watch the jumpers, then headed home via 11 mile road & felix Rd.

NEXT WEDNESDAY'S RIDE, MARCH 2ND, STARTS AT 8 AM GOING FORWARD. The ride will be to Kitt's Peak, west of Tucson, a destination we haven't visited for a while. Breakfast will be at Tag's in Coolidge.

I have included Phil's last writeup, it was a busy week & Ijust forgot it.

After being rained out on Wednesday, the Angels were greeted today under perfect Arizona sunshine. 14 riders on 10 bikes left the Chevron in the cool of the day on our way to the Salt River canyon.   Bob Shinnick took charge while Duane is recovering from his knee surgery. We were divided into two groups so we could more easily maneuver the Renaissance Festival traffic. Picket Post Mountain, famous for its 1880's signal communication, stood silently in the morning sunshine.  The Hoodoos east of Queen Creek tunnel cast long narrow shadows across the highway as we came through.

Breakfast this morning was at Judy's in Globe. The photos show that we're not always eating; sometimes we're only waiting to eat. Everyone enjoyed a really good breakfast, and soon we're on our way to the bottom of the salt river canyon north of Globe. The desert in that area is considerably drier than around Apache Junction after Wednesday's rain. Soon we were in conifer country and gliding down the long slope to the river.  Notice our attractive group of ladies perched on the wall with the river below. Traffic was light today, and the joy in this area is riding the long curving slopes down and back from the river.

The trip back from the canyon got warmer with each segment. As we returned to the valley, the temperature was up to 75° and rising.  Plenty of traffic was coming in from the Renaissance area, and we were soon back where we came from after a delightful trip through desert and mountains. Our trip today was 184 miles at average 49 mph, and we arrived back at 2:50 PM

Next Wednesday's ride will be to the Cattleman's CafĂ© at Mariana, while three intrepid riders from our group will be in Laughlin and Oatman. My short stay included several separate sightseeing trips, and I'll be back in Minnesota on February 25. I'm sure the Angels will have an enjoyable season, and the Blues Angels banquet is scheduled for March 12.  See Mini Al for tickets and the raffle.
