Six riders met at the Chevron for a cooler ride today, heading northeast on the Beeline through the mountains, then down the 88 along Roosevelt Lake.  Dennis was our leader, and Paul took up the rear.

Being a late arrival, this was my first pass through the vast area of range fire surrounding the Beeline and over the mountains to Tonto  Valley.   I was appalled at the huge loss of all vegetation, especially the saguaros.  Others tell me there were several different fires, but all took place during last summer's fire season.

Roosevelt lake had a healthy fill of water, and there was a 'Minnesota walleye chop' on the surface as we approached  from the north.  Ma's kitchen was a cool shaded place from the bright sun for the ever present breakfast that we all have enjoyed there.

We returned via the 60, where Dennis, Paul and Max took the 77 to Winkelman while the rest of us returned to GV by 12:15 with 178 miles on a beautiful day.

The ride on Saturday will be to Maricopa and the AK Chin, and points beyond.
